KINGSWAY COURT HEALTH & WELLBEING CENTRE Services / Activities Registered Scottish Charity No: SC030788    Company Registration No: 375922 The staff and Directors’ vision is: “To create a multi-cultural meeting  place which celebrates diversity and seeks to reduce barriers of fear and ignorance with a view to improving the health & well-being of the whole community.” (Services Delivered) The Centre provides a range of services aimed at improving the quality of life of Kingsway and residents of the surrounding area. Community Computer The Centre hosts a Community Computer open to all residents providing FREE broadband access during office hours. ESOL Classes English (ESOL) classes run throughout the year for speakers of other languages.  There are two classes which run throughout the school term time.  The morning class is run in conjunction with Anniesland College and the afternoon class is run by ESOL Volunteer tutors in conjunction with the ESOL Forum.  Demand for these classes is very high, therefore a waiting list is in operation. Newsletter The Centre produces a quarterly newsletter which is distributed to all households in the Kingsway Flats.  The aim of this newsletter is to inform residents what’s happening in the Centre and encourage participation in various groups / events / activities. Meeting Space The Centre has a number of rooms that can be available for meeting space for community groups. Stress Management Service This very successful service was run from January to March 2010 and we would hope to run this again in the near future Creche Service The morning session of English (ESOL) classes are supported by a crèche facility to enable parents to attend.  Mothers & Toddlers Group This was a hugely successful group which ran until April 2010 in the centre and we are currently trying to establish this again with the help of our local mums Enquiry, Information & Advice Service The Centre runs a general enquiry service, open to the public every Monday – Wednesday and Friday.  Some drop-in to enquire about local amenities including schools and colleges, benefit agencies, transport links and health care professionals.  We signpost people to the correct places, show them how to locate these using the community computer and arrange appointments with our partner agencies on their behalf.  The Asylum Seeker/Refugee Development Support Worker also runs appointment only clinics on a daily basis aimed at addressing issues relating to Asylum seekers and refugees. Credit Union Every Thursday, there is a satellite Glasgow West Credit Union     operating from the Centre between 2pm-3pm. Men’s Therapy Sessions (Activities Delivered) Over the course of the year the Centre delivers a range of weekly, monthly and one-off activities designed to promote integration and wellbeing in the local community.  Groups such as the Women’s Group and the Pensioners Lunch Club and Drop-in have developed over a number of years and programme many of their own activities with the support of the Centre.  Other groups such as Kingsway Eye media group are delivered in collaboration with some of our many partners.  If you are interested in finding out more about any of the activities listed, don’t hesitate to get in touch by calling us or dropping in to the Centre.
